2003 FLORIDA MARLINS WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS

Dr. Jeffrey A. Fishbein is a nationally recognized sport and performance psychologist with more than 30 years of experience working with elite performers across professional, collegiate, and individual settings. He is widely regarded as one of the longest-tenured sport psychologists in professional baseball, having served three Major League organizations over the course of his career.

From 2000–2002, Dr. Fishbein worked with the Montreal Expos. He then spent the following decade with the Florida Marlins, where he played an integral role in developing the performance culture that culminated in the organization's 2003 World Series Championship. In 2010, Dr. Fishbein was hired as the Sport Psychologist for the Chicago White Sox, a role he held for 15 years, providing sustained support to players, coaches, and staff at the highest level of professional sport.

In addition to his work in professional athletics, Dr. Fishbein served as Head Sport Psychologist at Northwestern University from 2002–2013. During his tenure, he worked with student-athletes across all 20 varsity sports, supporting both performance excellence and personal development. Athletes he worked with captured Big Ten and National Championships at both the individual and team levels.

Dr. Fishbein is the founder of Fishbein Performance Group, a specialty practice dedicated to helping individuals and organizations perform at their highest level. Under his leadership, the practice has grown to include a team of licensed psychologists who specialize in sport, performance, and high-pressure environments. For more than two decades, athletes of all ages—as well as musicians, artists, executives, sales professionals, and organizations—have sought Dr. Fishbein's expertise to facilitate meaningful, lasting change. He works alongside clients to refine mindset, strengthen competitive edge, and fuel long-term performance gains.

Dr. Fishbein earned his bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and his master's and doctoral degrees from The Adler School of Professional Psychology in Chicago. Clinically trained across the lifespan, he works with older children, adolescents, and adults using an integrative approach that draws from psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral frameworks. His style is highly effective in reducing symptoms while also addressing deeper developmental and relational patterns.

Whether seeing athletes or individuals, Dr. Fishbein focuses on the whole person rather than isolated symptoms. He views his clients as those who have stories that need to be understood, rather than those who present with problems to be fixed. His empathic, engaging, and interactive style—often infused with humor—has been central to his effectiveness throughout more than 30 years of clinical practice.
