About Deb Ognar, MS, RD, LDN, CSSD

Deb Ognar is a sports dietitian with more than 15 years of experience providing sports nutrition counseling, team presentations, corporate and community wellness seminars, and medical nutrition therapy. She is a Registered Dietitian (RD), Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD), and a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) certified personal trainer.

Currently, Deb owns a private practice, Deb Ognar Sports Nutrition, working with athletes of all levels (youth, high school, collegiate, professional, and recreational) in a variety of sports to optimize overall health, well-being, and athletic performance through education, counseling, and fueling. Additionally, she works with corporations in providing nutrition and wellness seminars for employees.

Most recently Deb served as the sports dietitian consultant for Northwestern University Sports Medicine Department from 2008-2014, providing individual nutrition counseling and team sports nutrition education for all 19 of the athletic teams.

Deb has been interviewed on her nutrition expertise for Chicago media outlets such ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, WGN, and CLTV News. Additionally, she completed a sports nutrition education video for US Soccer and has been published in Obesity Management Journal and Consultant Magazine as well as been featured in Tri the Journey and Chicago Athlete Magazine.

She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND), College and Professional Sports Dietitians Association (CPSDA), Sports, Cardiovascular and Wellness Dietitians (SCAN), Nutrition Entrepreneurs (NE), Weight Management (WM) and Dietitians in Integrative and Functional Medicine (DIFM) practice groups.

Deb received her Bachelors degree in Dietetics from Bradley University and her Masters degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Northern Illinois University. She was an All Conference Cross Country and Track athlete for Bradley University and has been inducted into the Bradley Athletics Hall of Fame.
